About me

My name is Emma and I have enjoyed a life long passion for yoga. The number 108 is a significant number in many spiritual traditions and when I moved to Paddock Wood, realising that my house number was 108, it felt like a very auspicious step in my yoga journey!

After a career in nursing, I trained with the British Wheel of Yoga BWY (Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Yoga RQF) and now enjoy teaching a range of yoga classes. I continue to study and have completed in depth BWY accredited courses in Pranayama (yogic breath work) and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation.) I am currently studying Yoga Philosophy, Meditation and Therapeutic Yoga with respected teachers of the Krishnamacharya / Desikachar Tradition.

About Desikachar Yoga

My training is in the Desikachar Tradition of yoga, which is all about setting achievable goals and designing practises to meet those goals. The ethos is to fit the practice to the individual and not the other way around!

TKV Desikachar was the son of Sri Krishnamacharya, who is widely regarded as the grandfather of yoga in the West. This tradition is based on the teachings of Patanjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and texts rooted in classical yogic knowledge dating back to the ancient Vedic times.
